Design Engineer

Wilts. Permanent, possibly Contract. Generous salary and benefits package. You must have authority to work in the UK and be fluent in spoken and written English. Our Client is an SME currently employing 22 people, ranging from hands-on Engineers, to Design Engineers and admin staff. They are fundamentally a design engineering company, producing a wide variety of equipment, predominantly incorporating hydraulic and hydrostatic transmissions, light to medium steel fabrications and increasingly, electronic control of these systems. 

As well as end users, the Company deals direct with R&D departments of OEMs, producing drawings, prototypes, pre-production and production machines. Volume work is subcontracted, so in all instances drawings and systems must be to the highest standard. The CAD systems are AutoCAD and Alibre 3D. They need a Design Engineer who is prepared to learn their system, learn from the design team and get involved with the Company’s engineering. You will be proficient in AutoCAD with good practical experience and a Degree / HND / HNC in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent. Ability and enthusiasm to operate machines (e.g. drive a digger). Communicate well with customers and within own organisation. Possess meticulous attention to detail. Consistently strive to produce a high quality product at economic cost with excellent standard of reliability. 

You may be just qualified, on your first or second job, or be a well established Design Engineer. Your personal commitment to design engineering is what interests the Company and you will reward your skills accordingly. Their customers demand the highest standards from our Client’s products, which are usually unique, so you will need to be 100% committed to understanding their needs and delivering drawings and technical information to the highest possible standard.
